You can now import room data from your Revit model directly into drawing.tool.

Room Names, Numbers and room geometry can be sent from Revit into your analysis model. This helps by populating existing information from BIM into your building analysis model!

Typically every Revit model will have a series of views showing the rooms with the name and numbers displayed via tags. Follow the video tutorial below to place rooms in your Revit Model.

Steps to import Room Data

  1. Check to make sure your Rooms have been places in all enclosed spaces in your floor plans. Follow this guide on how to place rooms.

  2. Export Geometry from your Revit model using the Revit cove.tool plugin as guided here.
Note: The "Export All" button will send both geometry and room data. (Revit plugin version 3.0.0 and later)

  3. If you are exporting geometry categories one at a time using individual geometry export buttons for e.g.. "Export Walls", after successfully exporting all geometry categories (Required categories: Exterior walls, floors, roofs, windows and building height), select Export Rooms to now export room-based geometry, room names and numbers.

3. Back in drawing.tool, you will now find geometry imported based on room data exported including all the names and numbers automatically detected and assigned.

Notes:

If a room was not present in Revit and automated name and number will be assigned when the room is created in drawing.tool. To help identify these rooms that were not part of the Revit Import the tag and properties table will be highlighted orange. These Rooms can either be modified, or continue modeling with the auto assigned information.
