1. Precast concrete
Precast concrete is a construction product produced by casting concrete in a reusable mold or "form" which is then cured in a controlled environment, transported to the construction site, and lifted into place.
a) Precast Architectural Concrete
This category includes faced architectural precast concrete (03 45 13) with general as well as tilt-up panels.
General panels
It can be used as an exterior layer for load-bearing walls, shear walls, slabs and cladding.
It can be flat or ribbed (pattern).
Thickness available in the database: 4", 6", 8"
Concrete Tilt-up Panels
Tilt-up concrete gets its name from the manner in which construction occurs: by lifting or tilting panels with a crane to form the walls of buildings. Panels can be produced in many shapes and sizes, including flat and curved sections.
Used for exterior layer for wall assemblies. Can be used as a structure with bracing.
Thickness available in the database: 5-1/2", 6", 7-1/2", 8"
Strengths available: 3000 PSI, 5000 PSI
2. Cast-in-place Concrete
Ready-mix concrete (RMC) is concrete that is manufactured in a batch plant, according to each specific job requirement, then delivered to the job site "ready to use". This is also known as the cast-in-place concrete.
a) Structural Concrete
This category includes heavyweight (03 31 13) and lightweight (03 31 16) structural concrete.
Can be used for the exterior of the walls as well as the structural component.
Strengths available: 2500 PSI, 3000PSI, 4000 PSI, 5000 PSI, 6000 PSI, 8000 PSI
3. Concrete Reinforcing
a) Reinforcement Bars
Rebar (short for reinforcement bar), known when massed as reinforcing steel or reinforcement steel, is a steel bar or mesh of steel wires used as a tension device in reinforced concrete and reinforced masonry structures to strengthen and aid the concrete under tension.
Included under concrete because it's often used with it.
Used as a structural element
Grade available: 60, this rebar grade offers enhanced yield strength of at least 60 thousand pounds per square inch (kpsi) under normal conditions.
Type available: A615, most commonly used in low-stress and less demanding applications and makes an economical choice in situations where a tremendous level of tensile strength is not necessarily needed
Size available: Beams and girders (#3 to #7, #8 to #18); Columns (#3 to #7, #8 to #18), Spiral columns (8" to 15" dia, 15" to 24" dia, 24" to 36" dia, 36" to 48" dia, 48" to 64" dia, 64" to 84" dia, 84" to 96" dia), elevated slabs (#4 to #7), footings (#4 to #7, #8 to #18), slab on grade (#3 to #7), walls (#3 to #7, #8 to #18)
