Rooms are defined by single, shared surfaces. This makes the modeling process much more intuitive and streamlined; and helps avoid issues such as slivers (small gaps in geometry) and intersections (rooms that overlap each other) because adjacent rooms share the same surface, instead of two surfaces needing to be exactly co-planar.
