This article covers the steps to follow in order to filter the opaque curtain panels in your model to the cove.tool spandrel layer. Before we begin, download the latest version of the Revit plug-in v.2.4.0 that includes spandrels as an added export layer.
If you need a refresher, Spandrels are most commonly the opaque glazing panels in between visions glazing of a curtain wall. They have minimal insulation and are mostly used to conceal building elements such floors, including vents, cables, floor slabs, and mechanical equipment. To have these objects filter correctly in the "3D View - cove.tool spandrel," modelers must set the Visual Light Transmittance property of their spandrel panel to 0.0%. Steps below.
Select the solid panel type in your curtain wall and click "Edit Type" under the properties palette.
Scroll down to Analytical properties. Under Define Thermal Properties by select User Defined.
Enter the value 0.00 in the Visual Light Transmittance field and click Apply followed by OK. Gif below.
Under the project browser, delete the cove.tool Spandrel and cove.tool window views.
Next, go to the cove.tool plug-in under the Add-Ins tab, and re-create the cove.tool views by selecting the create cove.tool views button.
From the project browser, open the cove.tool Spandrel and cove.tool window views to cross-check that the spandrels have been removed from the windows layer and moved to the Spandrel layer.
Back in the cove.tool plug-in , export your spandrel geometry and updated windows geometry to your cove.tool project by selecting Export Spandrels and Export windows buttons.
You should now be able to view spandrel panels in your cove.tool project.
