  1. Skylight Area: A skylight is a light-transmitting structure that forms all or part of the roof space of a building for daylighting purposes. Total skylight area of the proposed building can be inputted in this tab.

  2. Skylight SHGC: Solar Heat Gain Coefficient for the skylight glass. The higher the SHGC value more heat the space will receive. SHGC value varies from 0 to 1.

  3. Skylight U-Value: This measures how effective is your skylight material as an insulator. Lower U-value means higher insulation which ultimately leads to energy savings.

Skylight U-value and SHGC will be applied to the entire project based on the amount of skylight surface area. If you have more than one skylight product using an area-weighted average method to calculate a single value. Also cove.tool assumes this input includes both the glazing panel and frame, not just performance properties at the center of skylight glazing.
