Brief Overview

The LEED Daylight Report provides a comprehensive analysis of a project's daylighting performance, evaluating Spatial Daylight Autonomy (SDA) and Glare (Annual Sunlight Exposure, ASE). Tailored for projects seeking LEED certification, this report aids architects in understanding and optimizing natural light within spaces, enhancing occupant comfort and reducing reliance on artificial lighting. By offering room-by-room analysis, the report serves as a critical tool for meeting LEED criteria and promoting sustainable design practices.

Required Data

  • Geometry: Files from Revit, Rhino, ArchiCAD, and SketchUp are supported.

  • Standard Intake Form: Guides the specific details of the analysis.

  • Visual Transmittance (VT) Values: Necessary for all glazing elements, including skylights and windows. One VT value will be used for all glazing within the project. An area-weighted averages will be used when there are various values.

Deliverables

  • LEED Daylight Analysis Report: Includes project overview, daylight profiles, glare profiles, daylight and glare by level, and detailed analysis methodology.

    • Project Overview: Outlines the project's basic details and glazing specifications.

    • Daylight Profile: Presents the SDA values for the entire building and explanations of daylight simulation results.

    • Glare Profile: Details the ASE values for the whole building with insights into glare simulation outcomes.

    • Daylight & Glare by Level: Offers detailed breakdowns for each project level, enhancing specific design decisions.

    • Analysis Details & Methodology: Explains the modeling methods and provides information on LEED standards.

  • Excel File: A comprehensive breakdown of daylighting metrics by room for in-depth analysis and LEED reporting.

Why You Would Want the Report

  • Optimized Natural Lighting: Maximize the use of natural light within your projects, enhancing occupant comfort and reducing energy costs.

  • LEED Certification: Equip your project with the necessary analysis to meet LEED requirements for daylighting, potentially improving the building's sustainability score.

  • Informed Design Decisions: Utilize detailed insights into daylight performance to make informed adjustments to your design.

  • Comprehensive Analysis: Benefit from a room-by-room breakdown, enabling targeted improvements and precise planning for daylight optimization.
